    I would show them the radial distribution plot and describe it as the amount of time the electron spends in the area at increasing distances from the nucleus. So, an electron in the 1s orbital of a hydrogen atom spends most of its time around 52.9 pm away from the center of the nucleus. Sometimes it’s closer, sometimes it’s farther away, but on average it is 52.9pm away.
