    I would tell the child to imagine him standing in the center. The 1s electron is then moving around him. The electron will always be away from him a distance that is somewhere around something called the Bohr radius. If you want to spot where the electron is, there is no particular direction in which to look to have the highest chance of finding the electron! Look in any direction and the chance to find the electron there will be of equal chance to other directions.
