    J = 2 corresponds to”parallel and pointing in the same direction”, since this J corresponds to the maximal value for the addition of the two angular momenta and indeed corresponds to this parallel + same direction case. The lowest value for J are obtained by letting L and S be parallel but pointing in opposite directions. Hence when the two vectors are perpendicular to each other, we have an intermediate value, and we know from addition of angular momenta that its value should be J = 1

    Reading the other forum posts, I see that I forgot to mention that the lowest energy state is the one with minimal J (as was also discussed in the video I believe)
