    From the given expression for the EFG tensor (on slide 8), it is clear that there is axial symmetry, because the Vxx and Vyy components are equal.

    In the visual picture of the toy model, the two electrons are put on the z-axis. Thus the electric field gradient generated by the electrons will be axially symmetric.
