    If a detector was placed at the slit board, it would cause the wavefunction of the electrons to collapse down to one possible outcome, meaning they would no longer be in a state of superposition. This would result in no interference pattern being shown. Two distinct stripes of electrons would be visible on the rear screen reflecting the ‘shadow’ of the two slits through which the beam passed.
