Observing at the splits will cause the wavefunction of an electron to collapse to the wave function of an electron strivtly goint through either one of the two slits, so there won’t be an interference pattern but a pattern consisting of two lines.
The intensity pattern is then merely the sum of the two intensities corresponding to each slit.
