    If the nucleus has finite size it will have energy level corrections in the case when it is placed inside an external magnetic field due to magnetic dipole interaction correction terms (Fermi contact contribution & Bohr-Weisskopf effect).

    If an atom with electrons not penetrating the nucleus is considered, there are no correction terms for energy levels as electrons and nucleus don’t interact – all hyperfine energy levels are degenerate (nucleus doesn’t see the hyperfine field).
