    I think that L and S are parallel and pointing in opposite directions for J = 0. They are parallel and pointing in the same direction for J = 2. And finally, they are perpendicular to each other if J = 1. My reasoning for this being that we can wright the relation between vectors J, L and S as vec(J) = vec(L) + vec(S).
