    There was an extra negative charge introduced, and the energy shift was calculated via the potential of this extra charge with the positive charges. Which is a negative contribution, therefore lowering the energy.

    If you calculate the electric monopole shift as in the previous cases, you didn’t introduce an extra negative charge, but used the ones already available.
