    When the angular momentum and the spin point in the same direction they reinforce eachother and form the maximum case where J=L+S so where J=2.

    If both point in opposite directions they counteract one another and have the value of J=L-S or J=0.

    If they point perpendicular toward eachother they do not influence eachother because the dot product is zero. So J=1
