The nucleus consists of protons and neutrons bound together by something called the strong force. Protons are positively charged while neutrons are neutral. Thus, the nucleus has a net positive charge. Protons and neutrons have a finite mass so the nucleus has a finite mass dependent on the number of protons and neutrons. It also has a finite size dependent on the atomic mass number. Protons and neutrons also carry spin so the nucleus carries spin and a magnetic moment due to the motion of the nuclides.
