    I wasn’t sure how this was done so I looked up the article. What I found there was that first, the resonant frequency vs the external field was plotted and fitted. From this fit, the zero-field frequency is determined. This zero-field frequency and the known (negative) g-factor of 91Sr ground state lead to the negative value of the magnetic hyperfine field.
