    From the fact that the resonance frequency gets smaller for bigger external fields (B_0), it would seem that the hyperfine field (B_hf) will have to have an opposite sign in comparison with the external field (B_0). This is the case since in the determination of the resonance frequency (Delta E) both B_0 and B_hf are used. Simplified this can also be seen as: Delta E = abs( -Cst_1*B_0 – Cst_2*B_hf ), give or take a few factors. If Delta E gets smaller while B_0 gets bigger, this is only possible if B_hf has an opposite sign. This means that for the case of Sr in iron, the sign of B_hf is negative.
