    I’d say the following:
    * J=0 corresponds to L and S being parallel and pointing in opposite directions (because they ‘lift’ each other, so lowest energy state)
    * J=1 corresponds to L and S being perpendicular to each other
    * J=2 corresponds to L and S being parallel and pointing in the same direction (because they ‘add to’ each other, so highest energy state)
