    When L and S are parallel and pointing in the same direction, J = L+S.
    When they point in the opposite direction: J=|L-S|.
    In this case, this leads to:

    -Parallel and pointing in opposite directions: J = 0
    -Perpendicular: J = 1
    -Parallel and pointing in the same direction: J=2
