    1) Inferred information: From the diagrams, we can infer that the nucleus has a spin quantum number of I = 1. Furthermore, the splitting of energy levels shown is characteristic of a magnetic dipole interaction.

    2) Orientation at low temperature: As the temperature decreases, the nuclei lose thermal energy and preferentially occupy the lowest available energy state. In this case, the majority of the nuclei in the ensemble will be in the m_I = +1 state. The ensemble is hence anisotropic.
