Composed of protons and neutrons, and therefore positively charged. Can have a mismatch in the number of protons vs. number of neutrons. The number of protons defines which element the atom is, and the various neutron counts are classified as isotopes. Some arrangements are unstable, and decay over time, emitting radiation. The protons and neutrons are made of other particles, but I don’t know what they are.
